Abstract: |
The work aims to improve biological activity of titanium alloy implants. Bioactive coatings were prepared on Ti6Al4V alloy surfaces by microarc oxidation technique in electrolyte system of 0.18 mol/L Ca(CH3COO)2•H2O-NH4H2PO4, and supersonic vibration treatment was applied to the electrolyte with 40 kHz and 70 kHz ultrasound. Ca/P ratio, phase composition, surface morphology and corrosion resistance of the ultrasonic assisted microarc oxidation coatings were analyzed with SEM, EDS and XRD techniques. Striking voltage of microarc oxidation, inhibited growth rate of the coatings in the first 5 min, and accelerated the growth rate after 5 min. The ultrasonic treatment accelerated anodic oxidation rate, increased plasma discharging channels, decreased micropore diameter, and thus enhanced density of loose layer, and generated a great deal of cavities on in the interface between compact layer and loose layer, and shatters and cracks on the coatings. So, increased the Ca/P ratio. Moreover, the ultrasonic treatment promoted formation of rutile phase, and had no significant effect on enhancing corrosion resistance. Ultrasonic treatment during microarc oxidation can change microstructure, phase content and surface structure of the coatings, maintain good corrosion resistance, and makes for higher biological activity of coatings. |
