Abstract: |
The work aims to prepare Ti(Al,C) composite powder in in-situ synthesis method. Ti(Al,C) composite powder was fabricated in mechanical alloying method for different ball milling time. Mole ratio of Ti/Al was 1:1. In order to study the effects of different ball milling time on phase evolution, microstructure and inter-particle interface bonding state of the composite power as-prepared, microstructure and phase of ball milled Ti(Al,C) composite powder were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD), respectively. During the process of ball milling, grain size of the powder decreased as the milling time prolonged, and ductile Al powder particle flattened and its surface area enlarged as the ball milling time increased to a certain extent, and fractured Ti particles were continuously inserted into Al particles to constitute Ti(Al) solid solution. Al peak in the Ti(Al,C) composite powder gradually decreased, indicating that Al element continuously diffused into Ti to form certain amount of Ti(Al) solid solution. Ti(Al) solid solution can be successfully in-situ synthesized for certain period of time in ball milling method, it shows that interdiffusion between Ni and Al facilitates formation of Ti(Al) solid solution. |
