Abstract:
      The work aims to study abrasion resistance of Spark Plasma Sintered (SPS) Fe48Cr15Mo14Y2C15B6 amorphous under sliding and erosion conditions. The Fe-based amorphous alloy coating was fabricated by adopting SPS technology. Sliding wear resistance and erosive wear resistance of the amorphous coating were evaluated by performing sliding and erosive wear test, respectively. Microstructure and wear morphology of the amorphous coating were analyzed using X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy. As the load increased from 10 N to 20 N, wear rate of amorphous coating increased from 0.089×10-3 mm3/m to 0.216×10-3 mm3/m, but coefficient of friction (COF) decreased from 0.841 to 0.778. As the erosion angle increased from 30° to 90°, volume loss rate of the amorphous coating first increased, then decreased and reached the maximum (15.80 mm3/h) at 45° under corrosive wear conditions. The wear surface morphology showed that sliding wear mechanism of the amorphous coating was mainly fatigue wear and adhesive wear, and erosive wear mechanism mainly appeared as brittle spalling of powder particle. Compared with AISI 52100 bearing steel, the SPSed amorphous coating exhibits lower wear rate and lower coefficient of friction under sliding friction condition, while exhibits worse wear resistance under corrosive wear.
