Abstract: |
Objective In order to improve the service life of titanium alloy, which is widely used in aeronautical industry, friction and wear properties of TC4 surface plasma Ni modified layer were studied. Methods In this process, the near-equiatomic TiNi binary metal was used as the sputtering source, and Ni modified layer was developed by plasma surface alloying technology. Microstructure, ingredient distribution, phase structure, and hardness distribution of the Ni modified layer were analyzed. Friction and wear properties of Ni modified layer and the substrate were observed. Results The results indicated that the Ni modified layer was composed of Ti2Ni, TiNi and Ti phases, and the maximum content of Ni element was nearly 18% . The surface hardness was about 625HV. The friction coefficient of Ni modified layer was comparable with that of the substrate material, and the grinding crack width was 1/3 of that of the substrate. Conclusion The wear property of the TC4 surface plasma Ni modified layer was improved. |
