Abstract:
Zn-Ti galvanizing coatings were prepared on low carbon steel by hot dip galvanizing in Zn-Ti baths in order to restrain the growth of alloy layer. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was studied by immersion test, electrochemical polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy ( EIS) and X-ray photoelectron spectrum ( XPS) analysis. The corrosion rate of Zn-0.05% Ti coating is less than that of pure zinc coating in 50/o NaCl solution. Zn-0. 050/o Ti coating shows lower corrosion current, increased polarization resistance and electrochemical impedance, presents the better corrosion resistance than pure zinc coating. The oxide film of Zn-Ti coating is composed of Zno and Ti02. The excellent corrosion resistance of Zn-Ti coating results from the reason that the present of more steady Ti02 film.
