Main research achievements
|
Dr. Chen has been dedicated to the research on the disposal of high-level nuclear waste for more than 10 years, and successfully answered many key scientific and engineering questions regarding the selection of nuclear waste canisters in Finland, Sweden, Canada and other countries, and the evaluation of their corrosion susceptibility and safety in repositories: the objection of sulphide-induced catalytic corrosion mechanism of copper, the proposal of pitting corrosion criterion, copper corrosion mechanism in groundwaters and the novel method to characterize the corrosion penetration depth of nuclear waste canister, and etc.. These research achievements have been successfully applied to the deep geological repository for the high-level nuclear waste disposal in Finland (first case in the world) and have been used to support the license application of the high-level nuclear waste disposal in Sweden and the safety regulation of nuclear programmes by Canadian nuclear authority. The applicant has been in charge of or involved in 16 projects funded by Canada, Finland, Sweden, US and other countries, with a total funding of ~¥86 million, and he has published 58 peer-reviewed papers on high impact journals/conference proceedings (e.g., Corrosion Science, Electrochimica Acta and the Journal of Electrochemical Society) and 24 industrial reports. He has been bestowed with the prestigious Key Scientific Article and NACE Mars Fontana Prize. He has served as the Review Editor of Frontiers in Materials| Corrosion Research, Academic Editor of Scanning and AIMS Materials Science, editorial board member of Innovations in Corrosion and Materials Science, Guest Editor of Coatings, Scanning, Journal of Chemistry, International Journal of Corrosion and AIMS Materials Science, and the reviewing expert for the industrial projects funded by SKB company, Sweden.
